This was filed in the presence of Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate Umesh Shanaka Kalansuriya yesterday (26) when the case was called for hearing. Also to produce the face masks which were used during the murder to conduct further investigation
35 persons are remanded in connection with the above incident. The suspects’ ages range between 20-30 ears. Many of the suspects already have cases pending against them in the Anuradhapura Magistrate Courts, and 14 suspects are residence of Anuradhapura Industrial area.
These suspects are being accused of many other crimes other than this murder, such as unnecessarily gathering people, /conspiring, trespassing, murdering, attempt to murder, aiding and abetting to murder, causing actual bodily Harm (ABH), causing Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH), threatening, damaging public property, looting etc.
61 items had been identified and produced as murder weapons in connection with the murder of Mr. Wasantha Soyza, and the Courts has issued a restraining order to the main suspect ‘SF Loku’ to not to leave the country.
