Two youths were shot 9 times and killed yesterday (3) morning at Elpitiya area. It is revealed that they have been murdered to avenge a personal dispute which was brewing for some time.
Two youths had gunned down the youths who were travelling in a cycle in Urugasmanghandiya in the Raththotuwila area at around 9.15 yesterday morning.
The deceased 23 year old and the 24 year old were of residents of Urugasmanghandiya – Raththotuwila Ihalamalawa area. The police received information that the two youth were killed by two other youths from the same area to avenge a long standing dispute and all four youths have been together earlier.
The two unmarried youths have been gunned down on the way to work on a cycle from a distance of around 100m from their house. It has been revealed from the preliminary investigations that a 9mm weapon had been used to gun down.
The sister of a deceased stated that the two groups of youth had a dispute while playing in the Galpoththawela grounds on an earlier occasion and that her brother ‘s arm also had been slashed at that time and though the police was informed they did not come and the police did not arrest anyone with the possession of guns.
However the police have not arrested anyone in connection to the deaths.
