The police reports that (the victim) had been pursuing his studies at a Piriven monastery at Karavitagaraya in Chilaw where he was sojourning.
An 18 year old robe bearer who was staying in the same Piriven had committed a sexual crime against another monk for the first time one day in April, 2014. The suspect had committed the same against the victim for several days afterwards. The younger monk who could not stand it anymore has moved to another Piriven in Amunukola on 9th of September.
The father of the young monk who had come to know that his ordained son had sought lodgings in another Piriven, had visited the place where he was currently staying and had tried to call him back.
The young monk had rejected the father’s entreaties and had run away from the Amunukola place as well on last 21st. Later on information received by locals as he was found pacing along a railway line in Polgahawela, the Polgahawela police had taken the young monk to their care.
The young monk had revealed before the police the experiences he had to undergo.
The police has revealed information which confirm that the young monk had undergone severe sexual abuse. According to the police the suspect had absconded.
The Chilaw police is carrying out further investigations.
