The CID have already initiated a special investigation to arrest the assailants in connection with the murder of another woman by attacking with a sharp object at Opatawatta at Kotakethana in Kahawatta yesterday afternoon.
The Police Media Spokesman’s Office stated that a police team has already been dispatched to the area for the investigation process.
The 48-year old victim was murdered by assault with a sharp weapon at Opatawatta at Kotakethana yesterday afternoon. Police have identified the 48-year old victim as an estate labourer and mother of two. The murderer is not yet identified.
This woman had gone with a few other women to pluck tea leaves in the estate last afternoon. When the women had finished their task and handed over the tea leaves, the murdered woman had not turned up. The people who went in quest of her had found her amputated lifeless body.
A senior police officers reported that one hand of the woman was severed from the body and the whole body showed signs of assault by a sharp weapon.
Many serial killing were recorded form Kahawatta earlier as well.
