The entire results of the General Election which was held to elect members to the 8th parliament have been released. UNP secured 106 parliament seats with 13 national list MP seats.
UPFA has secured 96 parliament seats with 12 national list MP seats.
Ilangai Tamil Arasu Kachchi secured 16 parliament seats with 2 national list seats.
JVP has won 6 seats with 2 national list seats.
Muslim Congress and EPDP secured one seat each.
Among the districts won by UNP are: Colombo, Gampaha, Kandy, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Puttalam, Kegalle, Badulla, Polonnaruwa, Digamadulla and Trincomalee.
The party won 11 seats from Colombo, 9 from Gampaha, 7 from Kandy, 5 from Nuwara Eliya, 3 seats from Matale, 5 seats each from Badulla and Puttalam, 3 seats from Polonnaruwa, 4 from Digamadulla and 2 seats from Trincomalee.
Meanwhile, Kurunegala, Ratnapura, Kalutara, Moneragala, Anuradhapura, Galle, Matara and Hambantota districts were won by UPFA.
Power of the Jaffna, Vanni and Batticaloa districts were secured by Ilangai Arasu Kachchi.
JVP which contested in coalition with the Democratic National Alliance in 2010 election was able to secure 4 seats from the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Hambantota.
Meanwhile Sri Lanka Muslim Congress which contested alone in the Batticaloa district was able to secure one seat.
