As a consequence of the severe weather, Director General of the Wildlife Conservation Department, Sarath Pathirathna advises the general public to remain vigilant of crocodiles both in rivers and lands who have lost their ways due to being carried away by the water currents.

He further says that people could become the prey of such crocodiles who remain in highlands after being carried away by floods.

Due to the main rivers and tributaries including Bologoda River, Moratu River, Kalu River, Bentara River, Madu River, Gin River, Nilwala River and Walave River being overflown by heavy showers, crocodiles who resided in these waterways have come to the land.

Director General Pathirathne further said that the crocodiles who have come to the lands try to go back to their habitats with the flood situation being decreased and if they got lost when they try to find their way, they may behave violently.

Meanwhile, we have received some photos of a crocodile who came inside a house affected from floods.
