Police investigate alleged gang-rape of teenager in Ambalangoda The main suspect of the above gang rape had been arrested while he was at the Katunayake airport as he was taking a flight to Dubai via Air Arabia.
The police had revealed that the suspect is employed in Dubai and had come down to Sri Lanka for vacation for a period of 3 months.
The police reported that the suspect was handed over to the Meetiyagoda police and later on will be produced before the Balapitiya magistrate courts.
Police has commenced further operations to find the other suspects of this crime including a woman. All these suspects are residents of Meetiyagoda.
The 15 year old girl who is the victim of the incident has had a relationship with the female suspect's brother. The female suspect had informed the victim that her brother had poisoned him self and had taken her out of her house. Later she had been taken to Ambalangoda town by bus and later to a house in Amabalangoda Urawatta.
The female suspect had detained the victim in this house and had gone out in the pretext of bringing food for them. Later she had given the key to the 4 male suspects and they had raped the girl. The victimised girl is receiving treatment at the Karapitiya teaching hospital.
