MP Namal Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, was remanded till the 18th of July after he was arrested over the charges of misappropriating Rs. 70 million of a private company that was awarded for the development of Sri Lankan rugby.

He made this statement at a special meeting that was held under the patronage of former President at his Battaramulla office this morning.
Members of the Joint Opposition and Parliamentarians including Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Ranjith Soysa, Johnston Fernando, and Rohitha Abeygunawardena were seen at the meeting.
They held the meeting after visiting MP Namal at the prison.
Speaking during the visit MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena said even if all 51 members of the Joint Opposition is imprisoned their struggle against the government will continue.
MP Namal’s mother and two brothers also visited him.
During this visit Rohitha Rajapaksa said they have become accustomed to the prison now.
