The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has commenced an investigation to arrest Hambanthota MP Namal Rajapaksa and eight officials who were attached to the President Security Division (PSD) over the murder of rugby player Wasim Thajudeen, a weekend newspaper reported.
Police have found evidence to prove that the eight army personnel, attached to the PSD during the previous regime, has tortured and killed Thajudeen before putting him into a car and setting fire to it.
Additional Magistrate of Colombo Nishantha Peiris gave orders on 25th to arrest all suspects connected to the murder and produce them before the court.
The burnt body of Thajudeen was recovered from his vehicle near the Shalika Grounds in Narahenpita on July 17, 2012.
