The woman, a mother of one from Pahala Galayaya area in Pannala, was run over when she was waiting for a bus at around 5.30 am on Saturday (06).
The lorry driver under the pretext of taking her to the hospital had instead dumped the body in an abandoned area in Kotadeniyawa and fled.
The body was found after residents informed police. Vehicle involved in the incident was located in Abagahalanda in Kotadeniyawa after a witness jotted the vehicle number down. The driver is still at large.
Police has commenced an investigation into the incident.
