The two sisters have complained to the police that those three youth who were on the road side when these two were travelling to Baddegama from Hemmaliya had by forcibly stopped them and snatched their gold chains with pendants valued at Rs.45000 and Rs. 25000 and harassed them.
The police conducted investigations and arrested the three youths on suspicion and produced them at the magistrate courts on 15 December and were subjected to an identification parade on the 21st December.
After the youths were remanded on suspicion risen the Baddegama police have launched further investigation into the matter and were able to reveal that the complaint filed by the two sisters were false.
Later on the gold chains and pendants which were said to be stolen by the youths were found by the police at the two sisters’ house.
Afterwards the police had summoned the sister who is a nursery teacher and her sister and on questioning they have stated that they file the complaint on a motive to take revenge from the three youths.
The police explained the situation to the Badddegama magistrate and took steps to acquit and release the three youths who were remanded.
The two sisters were ordered to be filed a case for misleading the courts. And on day before yesterday the magistrate Chandima Edirimanna had ordered the nursery teacher and her sister to be arrested and bailed out after being produced in the Baddegama magistrate courts after being fined Rupees two lakhs on two accounts.
However the magistrate sternly warned the false complainants in the open courts and postponed the final verdict to the 27th of June……
