The death of renowned rugby player, Wasim Thajudeen was broadly discussed in recent past as the CCTV recordings of the scene were handed over to University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) for further examination.
After a series of examination, UCSC has informed the Court that it is impossible to locate Thajudeen’s vehicle, other vehicles or passengers present at the scene.
However, UCSC seeks international technological assistance to interpret the conjectural recordings.
A CD and four DVDs that include CCTV recordings of the crime were submitted to UCSC for investigation.
A special report submitted to Colombo Additional Magistrate, Nishantha Peiris yesterday (05th) by the Manager of USCS, D.M.B. Attanayake informed that CCTV recordings received for examination are unable to decrypt license plate number and passengers.
The report explains that intense light from a vehicle coming from left side and beams of lamp posts on the road blur the identity of the passengers.
