The young girl’s undergarment has been removed and dressed again. The police have taken steps to inspect in to the youths friends phones after finding out that the death of the young couple near the Handawetena Ella in Pituwala, Elpitiyais a murder.
It is reported that the young soldier has sent an “SMS” message to his friend stating that “I am in fear. I am frightened. Call immediately”.
The murdered couple’s two mobile phones, the young girl’s school bag, the youth’s wallet along with the identity card and the girl’s footwear are missing. The couple had gone to the Pituwala Handawetena Ella on last 11th.
The police state that is it was revealed that they would have gone there in between 11.00 to 12.00 Noon as per the “SMS” message the youth sent to his friend at around 11.45am. When he sent the “SMS” the friend’s mobile phone has been switched off.
The police have taken steps to inspect 10-15 friends’ phones. The suspects have left a pesticide bottle near the bodies to mislead the police that this is a suicide.
The police state that vomit particles were found near the youth’s body if they had committed suicide by consuming poison it would have been evident and there was no such evidence.
The police further states that the murder would have been committed by one or two persons together. Though the area where the bodies were found was a well-known place for various other crimes no investigations were done since they did not receive any complaints regarding them.
Police suspect that since perverts roam in such places where young couples come to court and when this couple went near the water fall such persons would have separated them and taken to fulfill their desires.
Police investigations revealed that the young girls undergarment have been removed and dressed again.
