"No one is there to care for me"
We heard many heartwarming incidents in the recent past where parents are ill-treated by their children. We report of such an incident from Thirappana,-Mahawannammaduwa area where a mother of nine children has been abandoned by her children and has been living in a thatched house all by herself for years.
The 83 year old R. Leelawathi survives with the food provided by the neighbors. The area residents reported about her to the district secretary of Thirappana.
Accordingly the secretary came with police officers and inquired into the matter. And revealed that although 7 children, who are living out of the 9, are residing in nearby villages they do not look into any of her needs.
The Thirappana District Secretary took steps to inform officials of the Western Kandy Gampola area where she is a native.
The police made arrangements to take her to the Thirappana police station and directed her to be sent to Saliyapura elders home. The mother does not hate her children though they did not take care of her
