The Kaduwela Magistrate yesterday remanded till May 05 Additional Director General of Divi Neguma Bandula Thilakasiri over financial misappropriation alleged to have taken place during his tenure.
He was produced before the court by the police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID), the Police Media Unit (PMU) stated.
On Wednesday evening, FCID arrested former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa over alleged misappropriation of Divineguma funds and the police charged him under the Public Property Act.
The police took him into custody after having recorded his statement at FCID, Kollupitiya. The former minister returned to the country on Tuesday afternoon from the US after FCID sought a statement from him.
The police also arrested former Economic Development Ministry Secretary Dr. Nihal Jayatilaka and former Director General of the Divineguma Department, R.R.K. Ranawaka.
