An eight-year-old girl and her Aunt have drowned in field at which had been overflowing with rain water in Baduraliya area. The unfortunate incident has been occurred while participating a ‘Katina Pinkama’ nearby.

They could not have been saved due to severe floods in the day of the incident. Victims’ bodies were recovered 300 meters away from the spot of drowning.


Postmortems of the deceased were carried out in Baduraliya Hospital.

Eight-year-old girl, was identified as Nishadi Hansani, a Grade 2 student of Baduraliya Maha Vidyalaya, and her Aunt was a fifty-year-old mother of three-children, whose husband is abroad.
