A highly drunk husband, seeing his wife dressed in a Denim trouser is alleged to have lost his anger and assaulted her with an iron rod killing her on the spot, the Giriulla Police sources stated to Hiru reporter.
The victimized wife was recognized as Sembakutti Arachchilage Tharanga Niroshani Kumari Munasinghe alias Amila, a mother of two children living at Temple Road in Uyanwatte, Muthugala.
As a consequence of consistent quarrels between the husband and wife, the neighbors had disregarded this incident as well.
At the time of the tragedy the younger daughter had been present while the other daughter had been under probation care over an earlier incident.
The husband has been arrested by the Giriulla police.
Acting Kuliyapitiya Magistrate had held the magisterial inquiry and the body referred to the Dambadeniya Hospital for the post-mortem.
Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
