The woman who attempted to throw her child to the train was arrested yesterday (4) on suspicion by the Kandy Zonal Child and Women Agency.
The police states that the mother will be charged for attempt of murder. The child has stated that the mother had held him by the neck and brought him to be thrown to the train. A female police officer who witnessed the incident has questioned the mother as to what she was attempting to do.
The incident has taken place at 7 am yesterday morning at the railway crossing situated at the Kandy mid-town.
The police woman has notice the mother dragging the child towards the railway crossing while the child was pleading the mother not to do so.
The police woman was able to halt the train since it was moving slowly. However the mother denies the allegation that she attempted to murder the child by throwing him to the moving train.
