The assaulted student of Dehiwala Higher Education Technical Institute Shashini Sandeepani who was hospitalized  attended and stated at the media brief held yesterday by the Inter University student board  that when she attempted to run, the police beat her spine twice and when she pleaded to stop they hit her on the head.

The Police Commission’s Secretary Ariyadasa Coorey states that Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Gamini Mathurata have been summoned to the Police Commission regarding the assault on   University Students who protested opposite the University Grant Commission (UGC).


Meanwhile Higher National Diploma in Accountancy (HNDA) students who were assaulted injured during a protest are to file a complaint to the Human Rights Commission (HRC).

The above Higher National Diploma in Accountancy (HNDA students staged a protest last Thursday opposite Higher Education Ministry demanding for a legitimized degree system for their diploma.
