The 32 year old unmarried Walaakulu Pedige Thusitha Devapriya Wijesena alias “Ganithaya” who was on the wanted list in connection with several murders and rapes is a resident of Madampe-Mugunuwatawana .Puliyankara,Keppetiwewa.
The suicide was committed yesterday (30) at 4 in the afternoon. While two police officers were near the house where “Ganithaya” shot himself the police officer who came to investigate on receiving a call from a mother who stated that she is being tortured by her son.
When the police entered the house a person was found dead laying on the floor a long with two empty bullet shells two bullets, and a locally made gun.
At the adjoining kitchen the police found Ganithaya‘s body.
On inspection of the house the police suspect that the criminal was also a drug addict.
The Chilaw Magistrate Heshantha De Mel conducted inspection on the same night and ordered the court medical officer to conduct the post mortem and submit the report to the courts.
The police are conducting further investigations.
