“Fell from Tree while eating a Mango seated on a branch” “Blood vessels have been damaged due to internal bleeding”
The 16 year old boy, who was injured after a wooden stick piercing through his neck in Bulathsinhala, succumbed to his injuries yesterday at the Colombo National Hospital (30). Colombo National Hospital (CNH) Director Dr. Anil Jayasinghe stated that the cause of death was due to internal bleeding.
The boy had gone to the field with his uncle and had climbed a tree to pluck mangoes and had fallen from the tree a wooden stick had pierced his neck through to the chest.
A friend who witnessed the incident related as follows…
“Thushara climbed to the tree to pluck mangoes, after plucking a few and was eating seated on a branch, suddenly I heard him falling and saw that a wooden stick pierced through his neck”
He was transferred to Colombo National Hospital from Horana Base Hospital to remove the pierced stake from his neck. The operation lasted for more than four hours.
The cause of death is due to internal bleeding, Colombo National Hospital Director Dr. Anil Jayasinghe stated.
