At a media brief held yesterday the Minister further stated that the transport experts have warned of the traffic in Colombo and that nearly one million people and 5 lakhs vehicles frequent the Colombo city on a daily basis.
Further discussing on this the minister stated that currently motor vehicle speed in Colombo has dropped to 12km per hour and if this persists the motor vehicle speed would be further reduced to 8kmper hour in two years’ time and the apt solution for the crisis will be to develop public transport system.
