“Lokka is now absconded”
Another 6 suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of the night club owner Wasantha Soyza of Kada-panaha in Anuradhapura.
Meanwhile, 6 out of the 8 suspects arrested yesterday were ordered by the Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Umesh Shanaka Kalansooriya to be remanded till the 9th of November
Courts also allowed Police to detain the other two suspects for questioning.
Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara stated that investigations are continuing to arrest the remaining suspects.
Meanwhile, the funeral of 57 year old Wasantha Soyza, was held this afternoon in Wijepura in Anuradhapura.
SLFP General Secretary Minister Duminda Dissanayaka and several other regional Politicians were also in attendance.
An armed gang of over 20 forcefully entered the particular night club and murdered its owner last Sunday night.
Meanwhile, police found two owners of city guest houses among the suspects who are already in police custody.
It is reported the persons arrested in this connection have disclosed the incident which occurred on that night. Police are conducting investigations to arrest an Army deserter named “LOKKA” in this connection.
“We were intoxicated that night. And were supplied with iron rods, wooden rods and were instigated to assault Mr. Soyza”
“LOKKA” intoxicated us under the pretext of a treat for his Birthday. After we were intoxicated, we instigated to attack Mr. Soyza.
There was a dispute between Lokka and Soyza for sometimes. According to Lokka’s speech, we understood that he had hatred towards Mr.Soyza. Looka has been arrested by the Police upon Mr. Soyza’s instigation. We regret what we did today. It is reported that “Lokka” has absconded the area after the incident.
Meanwhile, it is revealed more than 24 people have been involved in this murder case, Police reports.
