The stick that pierced the chest of a schoolboy in Bulathsinhala in Kalutara was removed after a six-hour surgery.

A hospital spokesman said that currently the student was receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital Intensive Care Unit.


16-year old Thushara Indunil of Peragas-godalla in Bulathsinhala has climbed a tree to pluck mangos while his uncle was tilling a nearby paddy field last afternoon.

In a sudden, Indunil fell down and a stick pierced into his chest through the neck.

Indunil was first rushed to Horana Base hospital, and later transferred to Colombo National Hospital for further treatment.
