"Don't raise your Voice,but raise your Words" - Wijedasa Rajapakse Advices
Due to a mishap in the Speakers list the parliament proceedings were halted yesterday (22) for 10 minutes by the chairperson.
This was due to a request made by the leader of the National Freedom Front (NFF) Wimal Weerawnsa to address the parliament after the speech made by parliamentarian Mahinda Samarasinghe.
The Speaker stated next in line according to the list was parliamentarian D.M. Swaminathan. Due to the oppositions protest on this regard and tensed situation arose and the proceedings were put off for 10 minutes.
It is reported Leader of the People’s United Front Dinesh Gunawardena took the mace into his hands however the mace was placed back by an official.
The American proposal in favor of Sri Lanka which was presented at the Geneva human rights commission’s session was tabled by foreign affairs minister Mangala Samaraweera.
