Police media spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said that if people do not abide by quarantine regulations it would be necessary in the future to strictly implement the law.
Speaking to media he said that during the past several days it could be observed that people were not properly adhering to quarantine regulations in the public and private transport services.
Public Health Inspectors also say that a situation requiring people’s action with greater diligence for minimizing the spread of the disease has cropped up.
Meanwhile army commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said yesterday that in the future the first associates of the coronavirus infected persons would be quarantined in their own houses.
Meanwhile, the quarantine curfew imposed in view of the corona pandemic in 64 police jurisdiction areas including Gampaha is still in force.
