The police is in search of an armed man who has been seen near a house in Kotakethana- Oppawatte area.
The house is been occupied by a 62 year old mother and a 29 year old daughter .The man was seen by the daughter concealing himself and had screamed on seeing the armed man.
The man has absconded. The police has tightened security in the area and is on the lookout for the absconding man.
Police media spokesman Ruwan Abeysekara states so far there have been reports of death of 19 women reported from the Kotakethana area.
The last murder being on the 28th of last month of a 48 year old mother of two named Papu murdered by a sharp weapon from Opppawatte area –Kotakethana.
A tea plucking woman also was murdered while she was returning from work. So far no arrests have been made in this connection.
