Former senior DIG Anura Senanayake was indicted before the Colombo High Court judge Vikum Kaluarachchi for concealing the evidence in the Wasim Thajudeen murder case today.
 
Accordingly, the Judge decided to hear the case against Anura Senanayake effective October 23rd.
 
However, the former senior DIG who appeared before court today was released later on two surety bails of 2 million rupees each.

The Attorney general has prosecuted Senanayake under the 198 Section of the Penal Code for concealing evidence and providing false information with regard to Thajudeen’s murder.
 
The body of Wasim Thajudeen was found inside a motor car on a road near Shalika Hall in Narahenpita on May 17th, 2012.
 
Later, the Magistrate inquiry revealed that the death of Thajudeen is a murder.
 
Former senior DIG Anura Senanayake and the then Crime Division OIC of Narahenpita police, Sumith Champika Perera were arrested.
 
Over one year after the arrest, both of them were granted bail.
