Addressing the UNGA Session on Sustainable Development in New York yesterday (27th) President Maithripala Sirisena stated that the basic principles of sustainable development known by ancestors will be moulded in order to harmonize with the demands of the 21st century, in the process of the country’s development.

The UNGA Session on Sustainable Development held parallel to the UNGA drew to a close yesterday (27th).  


Meanwhile President Maithripala Sirisena met US Secretary of State John Kerry yesterday.

Earlier discussions had also been held between President Maithripala Sirisena and UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.

President’s Media Division said that on this occasion the UN Secretary General had said that the President had won the trust of the whole world.Similarly President Maitripala Sirisena also met the Pakistani and Malta Prime Ministers at the UN headquarters.
