It is a person in Kotadeniyawa who had first provided the tip-off about the suspect.
He had revealed that the suspect and his elder brother get together to consume cannabis and that they used to roam the paddy field where the dead body of the girl was found. He had further said that the suspect disappeared after the incident.
The police had suspected them at first but as afterwards their attention was directed towards other suspects enough attention was not paid to these two.
The two suspects had been sojourning at a house in Badalgama, Kotadeniyawa where their sister resides. This house is located close to the murdered girl’s house.
It is reported that the elder of the two brothers arrested had been convicted earlier with the abduction of a girl at Gampaha and leaving her in a deserted paddy field.
The sudden disappearance of the two from Badalgama raised the suspicion of the police and the relevant person was arrested at an operation launched by the STF and several special police teams. Later being taken to the CID he had confessed of having murdered little girl Seya.
