The driver of the ill fated bus is also among the injured. Police said that two persons were killed on the spot after the accident which occurred at Yagodamulla in Minuwangoda on the Colombo - Kurunegala main road.
The Defender Jeep had collided head on with an oncoming private bus while attempting to overtake another private bus.
Police stated that 10 police inspectors were traveling in the jeep at the time of the accident and that a woman police inspector was killed in the accident along with 3 inspectors.
The rest of the 6 inspectors who received injuries and the driver of the ill fated bus have been admitted to Minuwangoda Hospital and later transferred to Gampaha General Hospital for further treatment.
Hospital Director Doctor H.P.W. Hewawitharana told our news team that a woman police inspector is among the injured, while an injured police inspector had to undergo an urgent surgery.
