The political sources inform that UPFA will be appointing 6 candidates who lost at the election to the parliament through the national list.

S.B.Dissanayake , Mahinda Samarasinghe, Piyasena Gamage, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena , Vijith Vijayamuni Soysa , Nadimithra Ekanayake are amongst them.


Couple of other senior members of the UPFA has requested the president, Maithripla Sirisena to appoint them through the national list.

However the Election commissioner, Mahinda Deshapriya has approved and said that it is legal for a party to appoint the candidates who could not make it to the parliament through the preferential votes to be included to the national list.
