The funeral of Lahiru Ranjana Fernando the Cadet officer of Diyatalawa who is suspected to have committed suicide during the training at Diyatalawa Army Officer training school, was held yesterday.
Military spokesman Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera said , the due military honours will not be carried out as he had committed suicide.
However, his relatives say that he had no such reasons to commit suicide.
Ranjana Lahiru Fernando joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer , On November 11, 2014 and he had gone through a training for a period of 8 months.
The judicial Medical Officer at the Badulla General Hospital who carried out the post-mortem examination gave an open verdict and handed over the body to the relatives.
The magistrate of Bandarawela had ordered the relatives to bury the body without cremating as the death of the cadet officer is suspicious.
The remains were kept in his house in Udupila and many military officers attended the funeral.
