The final rites of Iresha Lakmali, 35, who died during a surgery at the Dr. Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital was held yesterday.
Later, her relatives staged a protest in front of the hospital.
Her surgery was conducted on the 22nd this month and she has passed away during it. Her body was taken for a post mortem inquiry when her relatives became suspicious of the sudden death.
The inquiry revealed that she has died when her lungs filled with water during the surgery.
