Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said the suspects were arrested by the Mirihana Police.
"Police also detained a gun that was in the ownership of the suspects. Preliminary examinations revealed that these soldiers are attached to Major General Prasanna Silva's personal security detail," he said.
Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara also said a request has also been made for the military Police to produce a report concerning the firearm, ownership of the vehicle as well as its number plates. The suspects were produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court yesterday (21) and were released on bail.
The police sources also said that further investigations will be carried out by the Mirihana Police.
