"Kurunegala district has had 4 ancient kingdoms where the sacred tooth relic was placed and worshipped in the historic days", the former president had mentioned the above point as one of the reasons to contest from Kurunegala District.
Former president's Media secretary Mr.Rohan Welivita mentioned that they had requested for police security for a meeting held on the 11th of July in Hambantota Walasmulla area and had sent a written request to the respective police but they didn't get adequate security. He also said the higher officials were informed prior to this meeting.
They had sent a written request to the attention of the DIG as there are concerns prevailing related to the former president's security.
