All three wheelers in the Western Province are required to register with the Road Passenger Transport Authority (RPTA).
The Authority was preparing regulations to make the registration compulsory for all three-wheelers.
The registration process would begin today (June 16) at the Authority of the Divisional Offices of the authority as well as the Divisional Secretariat offices.
Three- wheeler drivers were expected to pay a registration fee for the registration at the beginning, which needed to be renewed annually. Drivers were also presented with the option of installing a meter during the registration process.
A committee will be appointed to establish a standard fare, which should be displayed on the three-wheeler for the convenience of the passengers.
