Speaking to the media after participating in a meeting in Kalutara this morning, the minister blamed reckless motorcyclists for the accident.
The accident involved a jeep and a motor cycle that crashed at approximately 9.50 pm on February 28th on a road near President's College in Rajagiriya. One of the motor cyclists is receiving treatment at the ICU of Colombo National Hospital.
Addressing a media conference in Colombo yesterday, MP Wimal Weerawansa said that the jeep had been driven by Minister Ranawaka.
Meanwhile Police said that the jeep belongs to the Power and Energy Ministry. The driver of the jeep was produced before Court the following day and, was released on a 500 thousand surety bail.
