Hirunika Premachandra was sternly warned about her neglecting conduct in Courts by the three-member Trial-at-Bar yesterday at Court.
Hirunika who has entered the court chamber while the hearing was in progress, has violated the traditional practice of making the established gesture when entering courts midway.
She has further ignored the court proceedings as she had initiated a ‘giggly friendly chat’ with an acquaintance while a witness was giving evidence with regard to the case.
Observing her disrespectful behavior, the three-member Trial-at-Bar Bench has halted the Court Proceedings for a moment and questioned about her disrespectful mannerism.
Replying the Bench, Hirunika revealed that her delay was caused by a meeting with the Attorney General in the morning and assured that she made the traditional gesture.
Refusing her false assurance, the Bench remarked that her disdained behavior was well noticed.
The Bench serenely advised her to protect the dignity of the court and emphasized that it was the final warning and she would be charged for contempt of court if she continue to tarnish the dignity of the court.
