The Memorandum of Understanding between Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka’s Democratic Party and the United National Front is due to be signed at Temple trees at 3 p.m. today.
The MoU is being signed following discussions between UNP leader, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and DP leader Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka.
Meanwhile a DP spokesman said that his party would contest at the upcoming local government election under the UNF.
Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka is due to take his oaths next week, to take on the post rendered vacant by the late MP M.K.A.D. S. Gunawardhana.
Consensus has been reached to grant a Ministry post to Sarath Fonseka entering parliament.
In addition a post of a Minister in the Western Provincial Council will be given to the Democratic Party.
Political sources said that most probably the post Western Provincial Council Health and Indigenous Medicine Ministry held by Hela Urumaya MP Nishaantha Sri Warnasinghe would be transferred to the democratic party..
Meanwhile former President, MP Mahinda Rajapaksa who participated at a media briefing held yesterday at the Narahenpita Abhayarama (Buddhist Temple) shared his thoughts with regards to a minister post being provided by the UNP to Sarath Fonseka.
At several media briefings held yesterday views were expressed with regard to this agreement being signed between the UNP and the DP.
