A 14 year old boy who had been asked by a Teacher to climb a tree to pluck Jack Fruit, had fallen off the tree and has been subsequently admitted to Hospital.

A Spokesperson at the Colombo National Hospital stated that the condition of the student was critical.


The boy, a student of Denawaka Maha Vidyalaya in Pelmadulla – Ratnapura, had been asked by a Female Teacher to climb the tree last afternoon.

A branch had collapsed and the boy had fallen off and subsequently rushed to the Ratnapura General Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Teacher was arrested by the Kahawatte Police last afternoon.
