Marriage proposals section in Weekly newspapers generally produce an immense fun for conjugal demands of those who have passed marriageable age.
An uncomfortable instance where a 67 year old widowed groom has lost his belongings over 300,000 rupees is reported from Avissawella.
The groom, a retired Bank Manager, has published a marriage proposal in a leading newspaper asking for a ‘slim partner’. The matrimonial call has been answered by a 54 year old woman in Badalkumbura, Monaragala.
The woman has phoned the groom and informed him that her friend is the kind of partner he looks for and has successfully continued her dual action- as her and her mythical friend.
After talking to her over the phone for almost two years, the man has questioned the woman about the similarity of voices, which has been constantly refused by her.
However, the woman has reached Avissawella in a bus from Monaragala as the couple had finally decided to meet each other at the beginning of this month.
The groom has noticed only then that his cell-phone-sweetheart is almost the double of his preferred and demanded body size. Yet, he has taken the plump woman home and handed over house-hold duties.
As the ex-bank manager had to visit Kurunegala for a personal matter, his neighbors have informed him of a man and a young lady packing his belongings into a three wheeler with his new bride.
Upon the return, the man learned that his belongings over 300,000 rupees were missing and has lodged a complaint at Avissawella Police Station.
The Police investigations have found the owner of the three wheeler had rented it to the family of the victim’s coquettish bride, whereas the whole incident was planned by the family.
The police is searching for suspects- the woman (54), her daughter (22) and her husband.
