A controversial Sri Lankan MP and businessman Sajin de Vass Gunawardena has been arrested by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) over the allegation of misusing vehicles belongs to the Presidential Secretariat, Police sources stated.
A current Member of Parliament of Sri Lanka was the former CEO of Mihin Lanka government sponsored budget airline.
He has also served as coordinating secretary on trade and foreign affairs to the President of Sri Lanka. Prior to entering parliament in 2010 he was a member of the southern provincial council.
Sajin has been involved in several controversies, and was widely criticized for his role as CEO of Mihin Lanka and for his involvement in the bankruptcy and financial misfortune of the airline.
He also had served as the former foreign affairs monitoring minister during Ex-President Mahinda Rajapaksa regime.
