An unauthorized structure which was built in the land belonging to the Kandy Asgiriya temple was demolished yesterday afternoon on the orders of Kandy Magistrate Courts.
A tensed situation arose since a group of Buddhist monks protested against it.
The police had to intervene to remove the Buddhist monks who were protesting by sleeping on the road and obstructing the demolishing process while attempting to demolish the unauthorized structure with a Backhoe loader.
An officer who was present at the place stated they were to demolish the structure and 10 minutes will be given to vacate the place.
