Police have instigated inquiries into an incident in which an individual has stabbed a young woman, before stabbing himself, in Wattala police area.
Both the victim and the stabber were rushed to hospital. The woman was declared dead upon admission to the hospital. The stabber has been transferred to Ragama hospital for further treatment.
The incident has taken place at the commercial establishment in which the victim was employed. The victim was a 19-year-old resident of Wattala while the suspect is a 23-year-old resident of Labukale area.
It has been revealed in police investigations that a love affair has been the cause for this murder.
Wattala Police is conducting further investigations, Police Media Spokesperson stated.
