A heated debate took place where both sides argued citing various opinions on resettlements being built in the surrounding areas of Wilpaththu reserve destroying the reserve.
Reverend Ananda Sagara thero cited that the resettlements houses have been built by clearing areas which were beyond the boundaries allocated by the government.
But Rishard Bathiutheen denied those claims stating that the statements by the Reverend Ananda thero is incorrect and that the forests were cleared with legal permissions.
Almost at the end of the program reverend Ananda Sagara thero took the Holy Quran in to the hands and requested Rishard Bathiutheen to promise on the Holy Quran that he did not destroy the forests. But Rishard Bathiutheen refused to comply.
