The symbolic handing over of 31 jeeps, 4 buses and 10 vans donated by the Government of Japan for the use of the Police Department took place at the Presidential Secretariat today under the patronage of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
According to the President's Media Division, the vehicles were handed over by Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Akira Sugiyama.
As the first step in the donation of Rs. 1250 million, 45 vehicles worth Rs. 775 million have been handed over to the Police Department.
The Japanese government has made this donation to facilitate police investigations.
