The ardent British cricket fan, Rob Lewis who waited 10 long months in Sri Lanka to witness his home team in action, was removed by the Police yesterday (14).
A video of Lewis belting out the words to the song ‘Jerusalem’ gained traction on social media along with Lewis’s incredible story.The 37-year-old - a web designer from Surrey had arrived in Sri Lanka last March ahead of the original Test series which was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Lewis remained on the island vowing to see his team in action in Galle before leaving for his home country.
Ahead of the first Test match between Sri Lanka and England, Lewis had picked out a spot on the Galle Fort and was ready with the boards and the needed cheer.
However, the excitement did not last long as he was removed by the Galle Police.
