Chief Opposition Whip of Parliament Lakshaman Kiriella told the Hiru News team that he had tested negative for the PCR test which was conducted.
Furthermore, MPs Shan Wijayalal De Silva, Gayantha Karunatileka, Thalatha Athukorala and M.A. Sumanthiran have also tested negative for the PCR tests conducted.
The group was subjected to PCR tests, following the COVID diagnosis of Water Supply Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara and Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Leader, MP Rauff Hakeem.
Meanwhile, 31 MP were directed to self-quarantine.
During the Pathare Visthare programme which was aired on Hiru TV, it was noted that CCTV footage from the Parliament had revealed that MP Hakeem had failed to wear face masks while attending Parliament proceedings on 05 January.
Speaking in this regard, Chief Opposition Whip Kiriella stated that it is regrettable that MP Hakeem did not adhere to rules and wear a face mask at the place where rules are regulations are made and passed into law.
