The curfew was lifted in the entire island apart from in the Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and the Puttalam districts today (20) at 5.00 am.
This was to bring people’s lives back to normalcy.
It was possible to see public transport in operation this morning (20), with the curfew being relaxed.
Anyhow, buses which transported passengers breaking the rules the government had imposed had been warned by the Police in the city of Galle and they made arrangements to get the extra passengers to get off the buses.
It was in this manner that the Police ensured travel in buses according to rules and regulations by restricting the number of commuters in each bus.
